Application Instructions

  • Applicants must take the following requirements into account before registering:

    • Be a Be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

    • Be a Peruvian national.

    • Be at least 18 years old (by December 31, 2025) with no upper age limit.

    • Be pursuing or about to embark on a university/technical degree or a master's degree for the first time. (The scholarship does not apply to the study of a second university/technical degree or a master's degree).

    • Reside in Lima, Trujillo, Chiclayo, or Piura (the scholarship is only available for these cities).

    • Please note that the scholarship is only available for studies in Peru (in the aforementioned cities) and has limited vacancies.

    • Continue to “application instructions,” where you will find the “Apply now” button, which will take you to the creation of your registration as an applicant or candidate.

    • When starting your application, we recommend changing the language to Spanish on the same page. However, applicants can choose the language in which they wish to complete their application.

    • This Net ID will be associated with your candidate registration. We only need one. Do not create multiple Net IDs.

    • If you are applying for a scholarship to study at undergraduate level, you must upload to the system the equivalent of five years of secondary school accreditation.

    • If you are applying for a postgraduate scholarship, you must upload your academic record or full transcript of university grades (which can be obtained from the university website).

    • If you are applying for a scholarship to continue your technical/university or master's studies, you must present the academic record of the cycles already completed at the centre/university or master's degree.

    • If you are applying for a scholarship to start your university studies and have studied a technical career, you must present the academic record of your complete technical career.

    • Declare in the system the final grade that appears in your academic transcript of your five years of secondary education (for undergraduate application) or in your university transcript (for graduate application).

    • If you are applying to continue your technical/university studies or master's degree, then you will need to attach your grade point average for the cycles studied up to the moment you apply for the scholarship.

    • If you are applying to continue your technical/university studies or master's degree, then you will need to attach your grade point average for the cycles studied up to the moment you apply for the scholarship.

    • All applicants should attach their CV as an opportunity for the selection committee to learn about their educational and work experience and professional skills development.

    • This applies to undergraduate (college) and graduate (Master's) applicants.

    • Demonstrate at least two years of professional experience after receiving a university degree. Therefore, the CV is mandatory and must indicate the dates corresponding to your work experience (demonstrate professionalism in the preparation of the CV). (This applies only to Master's degree applicants)

    • If you do not have work experience, in your CV you can include complementary academic experiences, extracurricular achievements, or participation in activities that highlight your skills.

    • Document any certificates or credentials you may have.

    *This applies to both undergraduate and postgraduate applicants

    • For undergraduate studies, attach the certificate of completion from the “Education for Better Employment” self-reliance group (the certificate must be no more than two years old).

    • For graduate studies, attach any certificate from a self-reliance group that you have completed (maximum 3 years old). You can choose any of these self-reliance groups: Education for Better Employment, How to Start and Grow My Business, Personal Finance, My Job Search, Emotional Resilience. 

    • Make sure the certificate has all the required signatures to be valid.

    • No other documents or screenshots of registration for the self-reliance group will be accepted.

  • Applicants must fill out the invitation form for their references or recommenders, which can be found in the “Recommendation Request” section, where they will enter the full names and email addresses of their references or recommenders. There is also a space where they can send an invitation message to their references, inviting them to write a recommendation on their behalf. The evaluation committee may contact the references.

    • Two letters of recommendation are required: the letters must be written by your bishop, as well as a teacher from your school or your employer, who knows your work ethic and can evaluate your potential as a student deserving of the scholarship.

    • Regarding the bishop's letter, the applicant must request a personalized letter.

    • In the exceptional case that the bishop is the applicant or a relative of the applicant, the stake president will issue the recommendation.

    • The reference will receive a link to their personal email to answer some questions and attach their letter of recommendation for the applicant. The applicant does NOT enter the letter.

    • Letters of recommendation must be uploaded to the system by the referee or recommender. 

    • We recommend completing this form at the beginning of your application so that your recommenders have enough time to complete and submit their recommendations before the deadline.

    • Write a carefully crafted statement that reflects your academic preparation and goals, as well as how your university studies fit into those goals.

    • The statement should be a minimum of 1 page and a maximum of 2 pages (650-750 words) and must be attached to the system.

    To give the evaluation committee the opportunity to get to know you, you should include the following:

    1. Tell us about yourself, your family, your relationship with them, and your involvement as a member of the church.

    2. Your preparation and background for applying for the Denis Wright Scholarship. What are your reasons for applying for the scholarship?

    3. Your academic or professional goals (both short-term, 3 to 5 years, and long-term), and the reasons for your career choice (experiences that led you to choose the professional career you want to study).

    4. Your particular academic or professional reasons for applying to the university of your choice and the academic or professional contributions you hope to make during your time there.

    5. Briefly describe a time when you failed to meet a goal, achieve an aspiration, or your leadership efforts fell short. What steps did you take to recover from this setback? What resources did you use? How and why are you different today?

    6. (Optional) How have you strengthened your application if you previously applied for this scholarship and were denied admission? (e.g., changes in your professional development, improvement in your academic qualifications, etc.)

  • The applicant video will help the committee understand the applicant’s desire and commitment to study

    • Applicants must attach a video of no more than 90 seconds in which they have the opportunity to introduce themselves. (This could reinforce their personal letter or “Personal Statement”).

    • It is recommended to avoid repeating the content included in the personal essay. Instead, it is suggested to provide additional and relevant information that contributes to strengthening your application.

    • This will help the selection committee to understand the applicant's desire and commitment to their studies.

  • The applicant must attach a photo (passport type) to his/her application. This photo must be recent, taken within the last 6 months of the application and must be clear.

  • For POSTGRADUATE applicants, in addition to the above points, you must add 2 essays:

    • Essay 1: Have you noticed any significant needs in your family, school, and/or community? Explain how you have worked to meet those needs.

    The statement should include specific examples and be 1 to 2 pages long (650-750 words). It must be attached to the system.

    • Essay 2: Secular education is part of our preparation in our mortal existence for eternal life. Do you agree with this statement? Support your answer with specific examples.
